How Does Our Merry Go Round Music Box Work？
Our merry go round music box works by using a steel comb with tuned teeth that pluck the steel pins as the cylinder drum rotates. The size and shape of the teeth determine the pitch of the notes that are produced. This carousel music box has 16 tuned teeth, which allows it to play a melody with 16 different note pitches. The pins are arranged on a cylinder or disc, and as the cylinder turns, the pins pluck tuned teeth of the steel comb. The speed at which the cylinder turns determines the tempo of the tune. Music boxes are usually wound with a key, and as they play, the springs gradually unwind. Once the music box is wound, it will continue to play until it runs out of energy.

Carousel Waltz is a song from musical Carousel, written by Richard Rodgers – an American composer. Based on the lauded Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, this film follows the romance of Billy Bigelow (Gordon MacRae), a charming carousel barker, and Julie Jordan (Shirley Jones), a pretty worker from a nearby mill. When the attractive young couple gets married, they also both find themselves unemployed, which puts a strain on their relationship. When Billy finds out that Julie is pregnant, he resorts to extreme measures to get money, a decision that leads to tragedy. After it goes tragically wrong, he is given a chance to make things right.
